SHI constructed the world’s first 6,200TEU container ship in 1999, at that time, 5,000TEU container ships were dominating the market.
Since then, the company has led the way in increasing the size of container ships by developing 8,100TEU (2002), 9,600TEU (2003), 13,300TEU (2006), and 16,000TEU (2007) container ships for the first time in the world.
In 2015, the company once again made headlines when it received orders for 4 units of 20,100TEU and 6 units of 21,100TEU container ships.
